A Thousand Years of Courage

From Godric on to Harry
Our house has storied history
For years we have been brave
The reason's not a mystery.

Godric G. himself
Was a very a very daring man
He stood up for what he thought
Was best for the entire clan.
Always thinking long
And hard 'fore he making a decision
Never did he need
Other wizards' supervision

Dumbledore was in
Godric's very courageous house
He knew the power of love
Though he never had a spouse.
Wise and popular
He knew his limitations all
He couldn't have too much power
Or it would lead to his downfall.
He fell in love with Gellert
For a while lost track of what was right
But found his way again
He bravely lead the side of light.

During Voldemort's
First awful rise to power
Gryffindors fought bravely
Right until the final hour.
The Order of the Phoenix
Albus Dumbledore at it's head
Lead the charge in Battle
To the very bitter end.

James and Lily Potter
Were not at all afraid to die
Demonstrating traits
Gryffindors exemplify.
Voldemort appeared
The time had come to do what's right
They saved their baby boy
Showing unwavering courage that night.

A generation later
Did evil Voldemort return
Today's Gryffindors
Showed him equal amounts of spurn
Hermione, Ron and Harry
Fought him off until he fell
And with Neville's help
Voldie ended up in hell.

Gryffindors are brave
Even more so those who've died
A thousand years of courage
Generations of Gryffindor Pride.
